Taryn Maitland brings a background in operations leadership, business strategy, marketing, and community engagement to her work in real estate. Over the past decade, she has managed a locally owned retail business, served as a district manager at Goodwill, leading large-scale retail operations and teams, run a boutique marketing agency, and produced citywide events. That experience shaped the organized, detail-focused approach she now brings to buyers and sellers.

Originally from Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Taryn developed an early appreciation for architecture, craftsmanship, and the character of older homes. She moved to Vermont in 2010 to attend the University of Vermont, earning a B.S. in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Sustainable Community Development and a minor in Anthropology. Her studies strengthened a longstanding interest in the relationship between people, land, and community; a perspective that continues to influence how she thinks about homes, neighborhoods, and Vermont’s sense of place.

Buying her first home in Underhill in 2020 helped turn that interest into a professional direction. For over a year, Taryn worked alongside John Black as a listing coordinator, gaining hands-on experience with the preparation, marketing, and details involved in bringing properties to market. She now joins the John Black Team at Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman as a REALTOR.

Her New York background also gives her an understanding of the transition many buyers experience when relocating to Vermont, from a different pace of life to a closer connection with the environment and community. Outside of real estate, Taryn is a lifelong Girl Scout, has studied outdoor leadership and environmental stewardship through the National Outdoor Leadership School, and volunteers with Merrymac Farm Sanctuary in Charlotte, Vermont and Saint Nicholas Animal Rescue on the Island of Dominica.
